While our family has been dairy farming for decades in the Alberni Valley, we are stepping into agri-tourism, offering accommodation, markets, and workshops.
We are excited to welcome guests to book our Cabin, which has been updated over the years from it's original build in the early 1900's.
Our dairy farm has been in operation for generations in the Alberni Valley, beginning with Alvyn and May Shannon moving from their grain farm in Consort, AB in 1935.
Alvyn and May's son, Donald, grew up and worked on the farm, and continued it on with his wife Elizabeth.
Today, Shannon Farms is owned and operated by Don and Elizabeth's sons Terry and Dan, and their sons, Josh and Ty.
The primary product coming out of our farm is grass-fed milk from our dairy herd. Our milk currently goes to Dairyland and Tree Island Yogurt to be processed, packaged, and distributed to retailers.
During the winter months, a portion of the Bigleaf Maple trees on the farm are tapped, and the sap is processed on site, in small batches, for maple syrup.
Maple Syrup from our 2023/2024 winter is sold out, thank you for your support!
Tucked in the trees, The Cabin vacation rental is adjacent to one of our large fields, that we utilize for a first cut of silage, then pasture for part of our dairy herd during the summer months into early fall.
The 1200 square foot cabin is the perfect farmstay escape with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room, TV area, kitchen, dining table, and desk space. The patio area has a dining set, as well as lounge furniture. If you're exploring the Alberni Valley (especially if you're hiking or fishing!), the cabin is a great accommodation option for a family or group of friends.
